This year’s traditional holiday celebration in Dallas has been converted into a drive-thru event, which means that guests will be enjoying the zoo holiday cheer while inside their vehicles. On certain nights, between November 20 and January 3, guests will be allowed to drive through the zoo “winter wonderland”.

This year’s Dallas Zoo Lights will feature over one million sparkling lights and lighted displays. The winding route of the driving path will be more than one mile in length and will allow guests to see areas of the zoo that have not been open to the public for years, and then through ZooNorth and then back out the front entrance. However, animals will not be viewable during the event. The drive-thru event will occur after most of the animals will have already “gone to bed.”

Those who want to view this year’s Dallas Zoo Lights will need to buy a timed ticket in advance from the zoo website. They will need to pick a window of time for their entry and they will be asked to arrive at the zoo during that particular window to get in line for the drive-thru.

And in between vignettes, guests will be surrounded by trees wrapped with lights, 2D and 3D animal and holiday displays, and overhead and hanging lighted decorations.

Dallas Zoo Lights guests will also be able to pre-order gift bags filled with holiday goodies to enjoy while on the ride. The zoo will also be providing a holiday soundtrack that guests will be able to tune into through AM radio as they go through the pathway. The Dallas Zoo will allow normal visits from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm while the drive-thru version of Dallas Zoo Lights presented by Reliant will open at 6:30 pm. The Reliant Holiday Village found at the end of the drive-thru offers guests an opportunity to park, engage in lighted photo ops, or walk around while still social distancing, before they go home.
