In order to stay up to date in her field, she remains a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the International Society of Travel Medicine. Occupational medicine is the branch of medicine concerned with the maintenance of health in the workplace, including prevention and treatment of diseases and injuries, with secondary objectives of maintaining and increasing productivity and social adjustment in the workplace. As an educator, Dr. Loewenstine has been involved in teaching and training first responders/emergency response teams in industries, as well as teaching and training physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses in the field of occupational and travel medicine. She has also served as a voluntary preceptor for residents and medical students at Wright State University and has made public presentations to a wide variety of audiences on the topics of preventive and travel health & the importance of industrial screenings.
Throughout her extensive career, she has received many honors, including being named to America's Top Physicians by Consumers' Research Council of America & the Cambridge Who's Who Registry of Executives and Professionals. In 1999, former First Lady, Barbara Bush, presented her with the Regional Healthcare Provider "Spirit of Women" Award as the area's first recipient. She is also one of the select few healthcare providers in the world to hold a Certificate of Knowledge in Travel Health.
Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Loewenstine enjoys traveling, gardening, and photography.
