There are temporary ways to keep food from spoiling in power outages that inevitably occur during extreme weather events. Survival food from 4Patriots LLC is easy to prepare.
Nashville, TN , United States - September 5, 2019 /MarketersMedia/ —
Hurricane Dorian was – and still is – a wake-up call for preparedness. People living within the influence of its path, as well as those who experience a variety of extreme weather conditions across the country, know they need to be ready with back-up power, non-perishable food and clean water.
For those who don’t have a generator to keep the lights on and refrigerators operating when power outages inevitably occur during hurricanes and other severe weather events, there are some alternatives for staying well fed.
As published this week by WFLA-TV in Tampa, Fla., the U.S. Department of Agriculture makes several recommendations for food storage in an emergency. Among them are keeping thermometers in refrigerators and freezers to make sure food is safe to consume, having coolers ready to keep refrigerated food cold after the power goes out and having ready-to-eat foods handy that don’t require cooking or cooling.
“Those and other tips offered by the USDA are good ones,” said Allen Baler, Partner at Nashville, Tenn.-based 4Patriots LLC. “But having a supply of healthy and easy-to-prepare survival food means you don’t have to worry so much about them.
“One of our goals at 4Patriots LLC is to provide survival food that is not only great tasting but also nutritious. As important as eating healthy foods is now, it is even more crucial for people when they deal with a survival situation during and following a crisis.”
Baler’s company provides a variety of products, including survival food, that help people become more self-reliant and independent. He recommends stocking up on 4Patriots Survival Food , which has a shelf life of approximately 25 years for most items.
4Patriots Survival Food meals are offered in five different kits – 72-hour, one-week, one-month, three-month and one-year. The meals can be prepared in less than 20 minutes, and they require only boiling water.
The food is contained in easy-to-store Mylar pouches, which keep out air, moisture and light. They are tucked inside tough, stackable totes that are discreet and store anywhere, including the basement, attic, garage, cabin or even an RV.
“Survival food is just one of the products we offer to help people prepare for an uncertain future,” Baler said. “In addition to a wide variety of survival food for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert, we offer a solar-powered generator, a water purifying pitcher, a power hub for your car battery, a power cell for electronic devices, health-related products, and much more.
“Our customers tell us that the single best thing about preparing for a disaster is that they now have peace of mind. No matter what happens, they’ll be ready.”
4Patriots provides emergency food products that are shelf-stable for 25 years. 4Patriots Survival Food kits are made without any genetically-modified products, preservatives or fillers. The kits are available in 72-hour, one-week, four-week, three-month and one-year supplies.

Hong Kong’s malls must evolve into green sanctuaries to stay relevant
Retail is making a comeback in Hong Kong. Deloitte China reported an encouraging HK$203 billion (US$25.9 billion) in sales volume in the first half of 2026, beating expectations. Accordingly, they forecast the retail market to reach HK$412 billion by the end of this year. A retail revival should directly translate into reduced vacancies for the city’s bricks-and-mortar stores. However, while high street vacancies dropped to 9.1 per cent, the lowest since 2020, vacancies in prime shopping centres...

China’s Communist Party plenum targets passive ‘nice’ guys in anti-corruption push
China’s ruling Communist Party has pledged to target “old nice persons” within its ranks as it steps up its anti-corruption drive ahead of a major leadership reshuffle next year. Rendered in Chinese as lao hao ren, the term refers to unprincipled, conflict-averse officials who turn a blind eye to misconduct to protect their own careers and social standing. A resolution adopted at the close of the party’s 20th Central Committee’s fifth plenum last week signalled a crackdown on this culture of...

Water shortages, gruelling course conditions and a lengthy post-race walk marred Hong Kong’s inaugural Northern Metropolis Marathon on Sunday, participants have said, prompting calls for organisers to overhaul arrangements if the event is to return.
