Sustainable Fashion Week (SWF2020) is a six-day event showcasing sustainable fashion exhibits, giving visuals on what is sustainable fashion and why it’s the future of fashion.
The event will take place from September 11 to September 16 at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. SFW2020 will include immersive online experiences and global viewing for a week of runway shows, panel discussions, documentary features, and instructional workshops.
The fashion industry is in crisis. Over-consumption of goods has led to an alarming rate of production, creating a recipe for disaster. How and where we make our clothes adds a toxic mix, making the fashion industry second to oil as the most polluting industry. Sustainable Fashion Week is a necessity to bring awareness to this ongoing problem while providing a platform to emerging, sustainable designers.
By identifying alternative methods of clothing production, SFW2020 will show what comes next in the fashion industry not only through design but also alternate means of production. Designers will showcase recycled, repurposed, renewable, reusable, and eco-friendly options for creating clothing which offers real solutions to the crisis overtaking the fashion industry.
Sustainable Fashion Week will showcase over 70 designers—from emerging sustainable designers, established sustainable designers to vintage curators.
Designer applications are now open at www.sustainablefashionweek.us.
