Set in the small town of Woodland, Ohio, He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother follows Michael, a young boy growing up in a close-knit, churchgoing family in the 1970s. At the center of the story is his unbreakable bond with his older brother, Dave, whose kindness, courage, and unconditional love shape the course of Michael's life. The novel is inspired by Williams's own childhood and dedicated to his real-life brother, Dave.
