Binske & Feeding America

With total donations expected to exceed 1 million meals, Binske's founders are hoping to help the many American families that are experiencing hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The devasting effects of the global pandemic have had a ripple effect on many American families, especially as millions of workers find themselves without work – and no source of income to feed and care for their loved ones. Established specifically to provide aid to food-insecure families struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Feeding America COVID-19 response fund will be a key source of relief for many.

For a span of four months, each and every Binske product purchased in the United States will provide 5 meals to a family in need. The donation efforts kicked off in April, and consumers have more than risen to the challenge, already bringing in a quarter-million meals as of early May. The founders of Binske, Jacob and Alex Pasternack have described the program as their way to take tangible steps towards helping the American community – and empower the consumer to do the same:

We found ourselves in the position of being able to take immediate action and help create a platform to assist those in need… We didn't want to wait to help, we wanted to start immediately; the unfortunate and devastating reality of a world pandemic means there is a substantial opportunity to give and be of service… We wanted to empower our consumers with the ability to make a difference in their communities, and our consumers are responding.

For the brothers behind the Binske brand, social responsibility has always been a top priority. The majority of Binske consumers are familiar with the impeccable quality of the raw ingredients used in the production process, many of which are sourced from around the globe. However, many may be unaware that the Pasternack brothers have made sure that there is great care and consideration taken for the indigenous communities that grow, farm, and harvest the ingredients.

For example, the cacao used in Binske's cannabis-infused chocolates comes from a remote region of Peru, where a portion of the products' proceeds is donated for the construction of schools and orphanages. In 2019, it was a hurricane relief fund effort that became the brand's charitable focus, and this year, it's Feeding America's COVID-19 Relief Fund.

As Binske's Executive Vice President, Alex Pasternack said,

Giving back is in our DNA, it's part of who we are. Being a family-run company, it's easy for us to continue doing what we love to do. The only high I like better than our products is the high I get from giving to those in need.

Binske is one of the fastest-growing cannabis brands in the world, and for the industry as a whole, a shining example of the true impact that can be made by those with such an extensive reach. With 83 million consumers – and counting – there's no doubt that this won't be the last time the world is made just a bit better by the Binske brand.

Despite a China-India thaw, military relations are stuck in 2020

Chinese President Xi Jinping has met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi three times in the past three years. Indian pilgrims are back at Kailash, the Tibetan mountain sacred to Hindus and Buddhists. Air China has restarted flights to New Delhi. But can trust grow between two armies that meet only in a crisis? And why does the Pentagon now talk to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) more easily than India’s army does? In September, Xi made his first visit to India in nearly seven years; Beijing...

Tillis: Trump's Russia deal 'is tarnishing Lindsey Graham's efforts' at sanctions
