Limelight Dog suggests happiness in a dog or puppy reflects the love and affection for their owner. As such, eye contact between dogs and their owners can be a sign of love, respect, and affection. If the whites in the dog’s eyes cannot be seen, it means they are comfortable.
Wagging tails in dogs and puppies are a clear sign of happiness, but it can also symbolise affection. Relaxed dogs physically wag their tails more readily than dogs that are stressed or unhappy. If a dog’s muscles are tense while they are wagging, it could mean that they are aware of a creature in the garden or a sound that humans cannot hear.
Dogs are more likely to simultaneously yawn with their owner than with a stranger. When this happens between dog and owner, it can be a sign of empathy and affection. Many pet owners recognise the quirks and personalities of their pets’ over time.
Facial expressions can reveal happiness in dogs, particularly if their eyebrows move or wiggle around. Not all dogs are interested in cuddles, but if they are, it is a sign of happiness and love as it shows the relationship between the owner and dog.
When a dog leans against their owner, it could mean they feel anxious, want something, need a cuddle, or are simply looking for extra comfort or security. Regardless of the reason, returning affection by stroking the dog will further reinforce the bond between dog and owner.
