George Dyer & Ewan Jones, were University students when they set-up a sports equipment website and started to attend markets and events with nothing more than some end of season sports equipment and a passion for sport and entrepreneurship.
Being athletes themselves, they were both familiar with gum shield/sports mouth guard products (and their difficulties). After receiving feedback from customers, they became aware that the mouthguards they sold were poor quality. The team set out to correct this.
They discovered that the category of sports equipment lacked personality and the trendy appeal that you see in other areas of sports equipment – like boots and jerseys.
The dua realised people only bought mouth guards because the rule books said they had to! They set off on a mission to make the best sports mouth guards in the world and disrupt an uninspired product category.
Setting up shop in the spare bedroom of their small mid-terraced student house in Manchester, they visited the Moss Side Community Project to pick up some second hand office furniture. With no car, they awkwardly rolled their new filing cabinet for 1 mile on a skateboard through the cobbled streets of the North-West and started to bootstrap their way to achieving their goal of bringing a new flavour to the mouthguard market.
Over the last few years, with a lot of hard work and MANY sacrifices along the way, the team have now realised their dream of creating a range of sports mouthguards that engages athletes of all levels and age groups.
Safejawz boasts a plethora of celebrity clients including Tom Hardy, KSI, Conor McGregor and Miley Cyrus! Their products are sold in 32 countries and last year they sold one of their products every 81 seconds!
