Blue Frequency - Open Your Eyes EP

Apr 12, 2021

RELEASE DATE: 11th JUN 2021

London, United Kingdom Apr 12, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - Inbound on decorated London label Ruff DnB is the Open Your Eyes EP, a sublime new four-tracker from fresh signing Blue Frequency.

Hailing from Austria and active in the drum and bass scene since 2018, the rising star has made a name for himself with a string of releases on fellow indie label DNB Database, including February's dancefloor-ready System of Nature EP. Shifting towards a softer liquid sound for his Ruff DnB debut, he showcases a penchant for all things bright and airy over the course of the new release, with a nuanced array of styles on show.

Taking pride of place on the project is its title track, which sees warm piano chords offset by twinkling arpeggios before launching into feel-good drops centered around throbbing synth work and blissful, rolling drums. Overlaid with a soothing topline, the song serves as the perfect primer to this up-and-coming talent's vibrant discography.

There's plenty more where that came from, too. The aptly titled instrumental "Daydream" is an ethereal slice of weightless liquid, its gleaming melodies and dancefloor lead contributing to its boundless feeling of escapism. "Hide Away" finds soulful vocal samples at the forefront once again, underscored by shimmering, metallic chords and resonant subs. Concluding the EP on an equally elated note is "Inside of Me", a tranquil number fusing sparkling plucks with silky keys and ambient pads to make for one of Blue Frequency's most intricate arrangements yet.

The Open Your Eyes EP hits streaming services and download stores on 11 June 2021.

Is China a Russia-allied Arctic threat to Europe or a potential polar partner?

Europe should work with Beijing to develop shipping through the Arctic rather than trying to advance its transatlantic security alliance by framing China as a threat linked to Russia. That was the assessment of Chinese analysts following the release of the European Union’s Arctic policy on Tuesday. In addition to identifying Russia as its main threat, the policy warns of Beijing’s growing strategic ambitions in the European Arctic through its deepening alignment with Moscow. “With our new...

China’s offshore tax crackdown could inadvertently fuel a digital dollar boom

From October 22, China’s grace period for the disclosure and settlement of certain offshore-trust tax liabilities ends. For the Chinese government, this deadline highlights its desire to affirm control over capital outflows, while for Chinese high-net-worth families, it serves as a reminder that it is now harder to keep international assets beyond the reach of the government. The deadline sits against the backdrop of China tightening scrutiny around cryptocurrency, stablecoins and real-world...
