From the Philippines to Dubai and America, the author shares a personal story of change, identity, belonging, and discovering who we become along the way.
Fremont, California Nov 1, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Author Anne Lusterio announces the release of her memoir, When Life Changes the Question: What I Lost, What I Carried, and Who I Became Along the Way, a personal account of leaving familiar surroundings, building a life across different countries, and navigating the changes that shape who we become.
At 22, Lusterio left the Philippines for Dubai, where she lived for nearly 19 years and built a life in a place that became familiar and meaningful to her. In 2024, another major transition brought her to America, where she began a new chapter once again.
Her memoir reflects on the experiences, memories, and questions that come with major life transitions. Through personal storytelling, Lusterio explores what it means to leave home, carry pieces of the past into an unfamiliar future, and discover that starting over can change not only where we live, but also how we understand ourselves.
Rather than offering a formula for overcoming life's challenges, the book presents an honest reflection on change, identity, belonging, uncertainty, and personal growth. It speaks to readers who have left something familiar, adapted to a different life, or found themselves asking what comes next.
Each of the book's twenty chapters closes with a question for readers to carry with them. "Sometimes, life doesn't give you the answers you expected. It changes the question," Lusterio writes.
For Lusterio, writing this memoir became a way to look back on the places and transitions that shaped her journey, not to revisit the past with regret, but to understand what she carried forward and who she became along the way.
